TCP Socket Plug-in

This plug-in features the ability to use a highly customizable, text-based protocol. It allows you to configure specific, simple ASCII messages that contain only the information relevant to your application. These messages can be easily processed by devices that do not support complex protocols such as OPC UA.

There are two types of messages: incoming messages and outgoing messages. Incoming messages represent commands sent to the plug-in, for example to start an execution. Outgoing messages represent the messages that are sent by the plug-in to all connected clients when specific events occur, for example when the state changed. The format of these messages can be customized in the plug-in configuration settings.

The plug-in is provided as a separate package which you can download with the MVTec Software Manager. It can then be easily configured in the MERLIC RTE Setup.

Limitations

When using the TCP Socket plug-in, the following limitation applies:

• Only Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) is supported. IPv6 addresses are not supported.
