New version HALCON 20.11 available now!

HALCON 20.11 has been released today and thanks to many new and updated features, users can improve the efficiency of their machine vision processes. This version is available in both a Steady and a Progress edition. As a result, in addition to these newest features, HALCON Steady customers now also have access to the numerous new features available in the last Progress releases since HALCON 18.11.

HALCON 20.11 brings optimizations for a number of core technologies like surface-based and shape-based matching. With "DotCode", a new 2D code type has been added and with another new feature called "Deep OCR", MVTec introduces a holistic deep-learning-based approach for optical character recognition (OCR).

But that’s not all!

With "deep learning edge extraction", HALCON 20.11 also brings a new and unique method to robustly extract edges. Especially for scenarios where a variety of edges is visible in an image, or when dealing with low contrast and high noise, deep learning edge extraction outperforms conventional edge extraction filters.

HALCON 20.11 has many more highlights in store!

To name a few:

  • ECC 200 code reader now supports the Data Matrix Rectangular Extension (DMRE)
  • HALCON’s integrated development environment HDevelop has been given a facelift to enhance usability
  • HALCON now includes a Python language interface
  • With network pruning, users can now subsequently optimize a fully trained deep learning network in terms of storage requirements and speed
  • ...
