Getting Started with MERLIC
MERLIC provides you with all the essentials you need to build, use, and seamlessly integrate an image processing application into your processes. These essentials include instruments for image acquisition, image data processing, system configuration, and communication with external components.
An image processing application created in MERLIC is called MERLIC Vision App or MVApp for short. To build one you first have to set up the image acquisition. Then, you use the MERLIC Creator to assemble the desired image processing steps. The MERLIC Designer provides you with a range of widgets to create your own graphical user interface (GUI) tailored to the MVApp. Finally, you use the MERLIC Frontend to display the GUI.
MERLIC can be integrated into a manufacturing machine. The MVApp you created can be controlled via the machine it is integrated into, while the MVApp is fed with live data from the MERLIC Creator. You can also check the results of your application this way. Additionally, it is possible to quickly execute the MVApp with different parameter settings, or even loading a new MVApp using so-called "recipes".
To integrate MERLIC into a manufacturing machine, you can use MERLIC's process integration mode, which is called MERLIC Runtime Environment or MERLIC RTE for short.
MERLIC RTE provides you with several ready-to-use plug-ins to enable the communication with the manufacturing machine. MERLIC also offers an SDK which enables you to program your own plug-ins for the communication between MERLIC and the manufacturing machine. It enables you to use any device of your choice for the process integration.
