Uninstalling MERLIC
Uninstalling under Windows
There are different ways to uninstall MERLIC on Windows as described below.
When uninstalling MERLIC, exactly the files that were installed will be removed. If you manually added files after the installation, for example, new images, tools, or manuals, these files and the corresponding directories will not be removed. However, be aware that files with modified content will be removed. Therefore, you might want to copy such files to another directory before uninstalling MERLIC. Furthermore, separate components such as a dongle driver or a license software will not be uninstalled as they might be needed by another application.
Uninstalling via the System Control Panel
- Open the Windows Control Panel.
- Navigate to "Programs" > "Programs and Features" > "MVTec MERLIC 5.7".
- Right-click on the name of the MERLIC version and click on "Uninstall/Change".
Uninstalling via the Windows Settings
- Open the "Apps & Features" panel in the Windows settings.
- Navigate to the MERLIC installation and click on it to display the "Uninstall" button.
Uninstalling via the MVTec Software Manager (SOM)
You will need administrator credentials to uninstall MERLIC.
- Open SOM via the Windows start menu or via the executable "som.exe".
- Switch to the "INSTALLED" page to get the overview of all installed packages.
- Go to the respective MERLIC version and open its menu via the
icon on the top right.
- Start the uninstallation by clicking on "Uninstall".
SOM also detects MVTec products that have been installed by other means, e.g., a MERLIC 5.0 version that has been installed via the previous offline installer. However, these installations cannot be updated or uninstalled via SOM.
Uninstalling under Linux
MERLIC provides no uninstallation script for Linux systems. Therefore you must perform the uninstallation manually:
rm -rf <MERLIC_INSTALLATION>
Uninstalling "CodeMeter Runtime"
When uninstalling MERLIC, only components of MERLIC will be removed. "CodeMeter Runtime", the licensing software used by MERLIC, will not be removed. Therefore, you have to uninstall "CodeMeter Runtime" separately, provided it is no longer required by any other software.
