Setting Up Communication Plug-ins

Communication plug-ins such as "MQTT" or "REST" can be set up for MERLIC RTE in the "Communication" tab of the MERLIC Runtime Environment (MERLIC RTE Setup). The setup basically consists of the following steps:

  1. Adding the plug-in to the "Communication" tab.
  2. Checking and adjusting the plug-in parameters.
  3. Optionally, changing some further plug-in specific settings for MERLIC RTE.

Communication plug-ins can be instantiated multiple times. This means, you can use multiple instances of a plug-in with an individual configuration. If you add a new plug-in instance, check the current configuration for this instance, and adjust the available user parameters.

In the following, you can find general information on these steps which apply to all communication plug-ins. For more information on the individual plug-ins, see Communication Plug-ins.

Requirements

The configuration options in the "Communication" tab are only available if MERLIC RTE is currently running on the connected system. If you want to configure communication plug-ins on a remote system, you have to make sure to run MERLIC RTE on the connected system. Otherwise, no plug-in can be added or configured because no configuration service is available. For more information on connecting to a remote system, see Selecting the System for MERLIC RTE Setup.

The "Communication" tab is only available if MERLIC RTE is running on the selected system. Therefore, you have to make sure to first start MERLIC RTE.
