Use this overview to find the right tool to detect and evaluate defects. For generalized object detection tools see the category Checking.

Task	Tool	Usage
Detect elongated defects, i.e., scratches or streaks.	Detect Scratches	Detect scratches or streaks on surfaces and return them as contours.
Detect defects with a certain diameter and contrast.	Detect Stain	Detect stains and spots with a certain diameter. For detecting small bright spots you can also use the tool Locate Bright Tips.
Group scratches or stains and evaluate them.	Evaluate Defect Clusters	Cluster regions and evaluate them, e.g., based on their number and area. This may be useful if you want to process clusters and evaluate defects like scratches and stains. In some cases the tool Evaluate Regions, which offers more results, might also be useful.
