Use this overview to find the right tool for basic measuring based on object features. Keep in mind that for measuring regions of interest (ROI), that are provided by other tools, the category Combined Measuring or Postprocessing might be more useful.

|
Measure longest edge and line segments in objects that may not be smooth. The resulting ROI can be used in the tools Measure Circle to Segment, Measure Segment to Point, and Measure Segment to Segment. The tools also measure the "Segment Length" and the "Segment Orientation" in relation to the virtual horizontal line. Measure Oriented Edge Segment also returns the edges that were used for establishing the segment and the completeness of the segment ROI based on those edges. The tools are able to return a segment ROI even if the image does not contain a complete or smooth edge or line. |

Measure the distance between parallel or nonparallel edges. The edges can belong to the same or different objects. For parallel edges the exact width will be computed, for angled edges the average distance. This tool also returns the edges that could be found based on the parameters as segment ROI. |

Measure a segment ROI that is fitted to an edge which contains irregularities (outliers). The tool also returns additional information about the position and distance of the most extreme outliers above and below the fitted segment. |
