MVTec HALCON is a ready-to-use solution for Arm-based embedded vision systems. It runs directly on a wide range of Arm-based devices and supports innovative embedded vision products, both as bundled solutions and as standard software.
HALCON is, including its deep learning technologies, available out of the box for many Arm-based platforms. No additional porting is required. MVTec also supports relevant interfaces such as GigE Vision, USB3 Vision, Video4Linux, MIPI CSI for image acquisition, and OPC UA for PLC communication.

MVTec includes comprehensive image acquisition interfaces in MVTec HALCON to support a wide range of devices. MVTec provides ready-to-use interfaces for industrial cameras and frame grabbers, including line scan cameras, 3D cameras, and devices with non-standard resolutions or higher bit depths. HALCON supports all commonly used industry standards.
AI Accelerator Interface (AI²) enable hardware-accelerated inference for deep learning applications. MVTec abstracts deep learning models from specific hardware, making applications future-proof and portable across supported AI accelerator devices. MVTec supports both MVTec-provided plugins and customer-specific AI accelerator integrations. AI² accelerates not only pure deep learning workflows but also classic machine vision methods with integrated deep learning, such as HALCON Deep OCR.
MVTec includes digital I/O interfaces in MVTec HALCON to support direct communication with various I/O devices. This provides ready-to-use interfaces for PLC communication using OPC UA and OPC Classic standards. Fieldbus communication is supported via the Hilscher-cifX interface. HALCON operates as an OPC UA client and supports agile, IIoT-ready production processes, including scenarios such as predictive maintenance.
MVTec supports a broad range of embedded devices and platforms for MVTec HALCON. If no suitable standard platform is available, MVTec also provides customized solutions. MVTec additionally offers feasibility studies and proof-of-concept support for embedded vision projects.
