The first update of the preview version of HDevelopEVO, MVTec HALCON's new development environment (IDE), is now available. After this latest preview version was presented at MVTec Innovation Day 2025, HALCON users can now download it via the MVTec Software Manager (as part of the HALCON 24.11 Progress-Steady package) to try it out for themselves.
The new version contains many improvements that make it faster and more intuitive to use.
With this release, the unique feature of HDevelop is now available in HDevelopEVO.
Users can now work interactively and quickly in their scripts. They can edit running scripts during execution and adjust parameter values directly. It is not necessary to restart the script. This rapid prototyping significantly speeds up the development process.
With the improved auto-completion, users are better supported when creating a HALCON script.
During programming, they can now, if desired, view a short documentation of the respective operator. This helps them to better understand what an operator and its parameters do. As a result, scripts can be created much faster.
With the new release, it is now possible to manage your own projects directly in HDevelopEVO using a version control system (Git) without having to leave the development environment. Current changes to the code are displayed in the editor and can be compared with the previous version and traced within a project.
In addition, the new version makes it easier to work in teams, as several people can make changes to a project at the same time. This way, engineers can increase the quality of the created application. This feature was requested by many MVTec customers, and it has now been implemented.
Download the new preview version of HDevelopEVO via the MVTec Software Manager and try it out. It is part of the HALCON 24.11 Progress-Steady package. You can use the feedback button in the program to send feedback and suggestions for improvement.
